Sun Rhynolyte Hardcore Mountain Bike Wheel Rims
The Sun Rhynolyte rims are extremely strong. I’ve been using them for the majority of the journey on a loaded bike and I’ve only had to true them a couple of times. They were built by Leisure Lakes cycles and they look very sturdy by design; square and chunky. My rims have a v-braking surface if something was to go wrong with the disk brakes so I could easily swap over to v-brakes.
After many kms of loaded touring I’ve also used them for miles of off-road on rocky tracks in the Caucasus mountains and they are still holding strong. It would take something extraordinary to find something to better the design. They’re not the lightest, but they are incredibly durable particularly with the 36 spoke build. They are a hands-down recommendation.
